Antique carpets of eighteen feet and over, the largest of them reaching forty-five. French work is the strongest group, with Aubusson and Savonnerie together accounting for a substantial part of it, and Persian Sultanabads and Tabriz weavings and Turkish Oushaks making up much of the rest. The earliest here is mid-eighteenth-century. Carpets of this size were commissioned for particular rooms and survive in far smaller numbers than ordinary sizes, so the selection changes as pieces are sold.
